On our way home from lunch in Abbotsford with friends yesterday, my girlfriend L and I decided to take a detour off the highway. We were cruising along in the sunshime when we saw a sign for Krause Berry Farms and figured we’d stop for a look…and were we ever happy we did!
Built on over 160 acres of land, the family-owned farm is a beautiful sight. It was obvious when we entered the property that this place is not a well-kept secret. It was packed! (But in a good way.) Children were playing in a designated area with big plastic toys, parents and friends filled the giant porch enjoying fresh fruit smoothies, berry pies and other yummy treats, while others wandered the grounds, enjoying the view.
L and I sauntered into the market where we found jars of fresh jams and jellies, pickled asparagus, pancake batters, shortcake mixes, and barrels and buckets overflowing with fresh vegetables. We were looking for dessert, so we set our eyes on the pies…the delicious, gooey, fruity, enormous pies! People were practically running to the coolers to grab them. Fortunately, I managed to squeeze my way in to grab one pie each for L and I to take home for our BC Day BBQ’s.
Krause Berry Farms also hosts a variety of family events throughout the year and offers a year-round selection of seasonal fruits and veggies. Check out their website for all the information you need to plan a day at the farm!
Had to take a couple pics of my pie for you. Delicious!
