Set back from the main street in Fort Langley, inside a charming little clapboard cottage, you’ll find one of the sweetest treats this side of the Port Mann Bridge - The Ruby Slippers Specialty Co. Their specialty, you ask? Chocolate slippers! Lovely, creamy, velvety, Belgian chocolate slippers, wrapped in colourful foil and ribbons. Picture Dorothy’s slippers from the Wizard of Oz – only smaller and made of chocolate. They’re adorable, unique and delicious!
Of course the slippers are their namesake, but this sweet shop doesn’t stop there. They also carry a delectable assortment of delicious treats like imported candies, salt water taffy, suckers and sours. It’s Heaven for a junk food junkie like me, who is always looking for alternatives to the bulk candy aisle at Safeway.
The shop itself is warm, inviting and fun and feels like an old fashioned candy shop. From the striped walls, to the displays of goodies, you’ll find yourself feeling like a kid in a candy store, no matter your age.
