My boyfriend recently celebrated his 29th birthday, so we once again found ourselves looking for a new restaurant to try. We wanted something intimate and cozy, with a great wine list and superior quality food…but we didn’t want to go very far from home. Fortunately, we found everything we were looking for in Restaurant 62.
I admit, I was skeptical at first about the thought of a premier dining experience in Abbotsford. Remember, I’m still new to this Valley gig! I’m happy to report, however, that my doubts were thrown out the moment we arrived. The service was impeccable, the room was intimate and the food was phenomenal.
We’re very fortunate in the Fraser Valley to be living right where local food is produced, so I was happy to see the Cloverdale Organic Green Salad and the Roasted Fraser Valley Pork Tenderloin on the menu…it doesn’t get more local than that! Restaurant 62 is also a certified Oceanwise restaurant, so their fresh seafood is guaranteed to be environmentally-friendly. Further, they have an impressive (i.e. enormous) wine list. They’ve definitely earned their recent 2008 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence! I was too overwhelmed by the choices that I opted to invite our server to select a few for me to pair with my meal.
Our dinner at Restaurant 62 was superb. Executive Chef Jeff Massey and partner Eric Ferris have created a warm, inviting and intimate room, serving up a delicious culinary experience that is sure to have you coming back for more. The restaurant would certainly not be out of place in Yaletown, but this Urban Suburban is very thankful they’ve chosen to call the Valley their home.
PS – They also do private dining and catering!
PPS – Be sure to make a reservation. When I say this is an intimate room, I mean it.
