Cupcakes make me happy.  They’re so pretty and sweet and simple, yet there’s also something incredibly exciting and fun about cute little cakes, piled high with sugary icing and colourful sprinkles.  Just the word cupcake put a smile on my face!

So you can imagine my delight when I stopped by Tracycakes this weekend to indulge in a selection of their homemade cupcakes.  They were delicious!  I mean, truly, totally and undeniably delicious.  Delicious in the kind of way that you simply can’t have just one…I had four.  And no, I did not feel guilty about it.

Tracycakes are fresh and moist – almost creamy in texture – with the most luscious, velvety, whipped icing.  Baked daily in limited quantities to ensure freshness, Tracycakes come in 35 irresistible flavours and are available in two sizes – Babycake and Regular.  With names like Fill me up Buttercup, The Princess Cupcake, A Lovely Bunch of Coconuts, Va-Va Vanilla, Love at First Bite, Sleepless in Seattle, The Jessicupcake, 24-Karat Cake and Smartie Pants Cupcake (just to name a few),  these delightful little cakes are not just tasty, they’re fun, fanciful and downright adorable!

Please go.  I promise all your sweetest dreams will come true.

PS – Tracycakes also serves a selection of continental breakfasts, homemade soups, salads, sandwiches and light lunches, as well as specialty cupcakes, cheesecakes and other desserts. They also offer “High Tea”, which includes specialty loose leaf teas, finger sandwiches, sausage rolls, fresh fruit, lemon curd, Devonshire cream, raspberry jam, babycake cupcakes and dainty rounds.

The Icing on the Cake – The inspiring story of Tracycakes

Tracy Dueck, a former stay at home mom with a dream to serve people in her community in a unique and caring way, is the visionary behind Tracycakes Bakery Cafe. Tracy claims her love of being in the kitchen developed at an early age, and it was over the years while raising her three children that she really honed her cooking and baking skills. With her children grown, Tracy decided it was time to take a risk and start her own business doing what she enjoys most – serving delicious food. With sheer determination, lots of hard work and encouragement from friends and family, Tracy has succeeded in making her sweet dream a reality. Tracycakes is the manifestation of her goal to make a difference in her community, one person at a time.

Tracycakes first opened in September 2006 in Fort Langley’s historic Marr House.  Since the day the doors opened, the demand for Tracycakes’ speciality cupcakes has remained steady.  The success of the first location prompted Tracy Dueck to launch a second cafe just a year and a half later. Tracycakes opened in Abbotsford on the quaint Montrose Avenue in March 2008.
