Many of you are likely familiar with Wendel’s, so you know I had to write about them eventually for the benefit of those who have yet to visit. Actually, it’s taken me a long time to write about Wendel’s because I’m not sure I want more people going there. They’re always so busy! But I couldn’t keep something this good from all of you…
Wendel’s cafe and Bookstore is located in the heart of Fort Langley. A combination fresh food cafe and bookstore, Wendel’s is almost always packed with cyclists, families, couples and groups of friends enjoying delicious food, coffee, or even the odd glass of chardonnay. It’s the perfect meeting place for weekend brunch or afternoon coffee.
From the moment you arrive, it’s clear why Wendel’s has become so popular. It has that warm, welcoming vibe that instantly makes you feel relaxed and content. Even on their busiest days, they have a way of making you feel right at home. And let’s be honest, alot of businesses these days are sorely lacking in this area…I won’t go on and vent here about my frustrations with poor customer service, but suffice to say I refuse to be a parton anywhere that doesn’t treat customers with a modicum of respect. But I digress…
In addition to the great atmosphere, Wendel’s takes pride in presenting customers with fantastic, fresh food and they make everything from scratch. All products from salad dressings, soups, salsas and baked goods are made in-house from real, whole products. They even hand squeeze their lemon juice used for lemonade and baking!
Wendel’s bookstore provides the same exceptional service by carrying a good selection of the latest and greatest titles, as well as kids books and magazines. And best of all? If they don’t have what you’re looking for, they’ll order it in for ya!
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: Wendel’s just has a little more heart and a little more soul that your average cafe. Whether it’s a sunny day and you’re sitting outside on the patio with friends, or a cold, rainy Westcoast evening and you’re cuddling up with a book and a cup of cocoa, you’ll feel welcome, warm and comfortable here…just like you would in your own home.
