Bub and I checked out the much-anticipated Onyx Steakhouse in White Rock last night. Yes, they are officially open!
Those of you who love Pearl Restaurant on White Rock beach will be happy to know that Onyx is owned and operated by the same team, which is likely why they’ve had alot of buzz around their opening.
Similar to Pearl, Onyx has a comfortable and cozy, yet contemporary and chique vibe. Further, the same high standards of service and comfort of patrons applies. The menu differs significantly though, as Onyx is a steakhouse. So, while Pearl offers up a menu that features outstanding seafood, Onyx specializes in great cuts of meat. As well, their menu is à la carte, so you order your proteins and sides separately (sides are all large enough to share.) They have nice wine and cocktail lists, as well as some tasty after-dinner coffees and ice wines.
Check them out! They had a busy weekend and haven’t even done their official public launch…so, if you’re going any time soon, be sure to make a reservation.
