Downtown Langley City

Happy New Year everyone!

Holidays, travel and the weather have kept me from exploring much over the Christmas season, but today I was bound and determined to find something to write about.  So, I took a stroll over to Downtown Langley City and checked out the shops along the One-way section of Fraser Highway, an area I’ve been meaning to visit for a long time.  It was fantastic!  Reminded me a little of a couple of blocks along Main Street in Vancouver, where I used to grab take-out and shop the local boutiques.

There are tons of restaurants and cafe’s, serving everything from Mexican, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, North American and Thai food and the selection of shops is awesome!  You’ll find music and toys, candy, sports equipment, art supplies, home decor, clothing, bridal boutiques, antiques, bath and body products and fine art.  Of course, it was Sunday and the weather is still crap, so alot of places were closed, but I can imagine that this would be a really fun place to hang out on a sunny Saturday!  It has ecclectic character and charm and a friendly, casual flair that I absolutely adore.

While I was there, I stumbled upon two great shops that you’ll want to check out.  First was Forever Yours Lingerie (20460 Fraser Highway).  The self-proclaimed “Bra Fit Specialists” have created a fun and girly boutique, complete with pink walls and elaborate chandeliers, in which to sell a wide array of undergarments for women of all sizes.  I loved it.  This is definitely going to be one of the places I go next time I need new bras and underwear.  And best of all?  They carry my all-time faves: Hanky Panky’s.  If you haven’t tried these undies, you really should.  They’re comfy and cute.

My next “find” was McBurney Junction Furniture and Interiors, where I proceeded to spend about an hour picking out everything from candles to dishes to lamps, couches and rugs with which to re-decorate our house.  Ok, I didn’t actually buy anything because the holidays have sucked me dry, but a girl can dream, right?  And dream I did in this store.  They carry everything you need to make your house a home.  Check out their website and you’ll see what I mean: http://www.mcburneyjunction.com/

I can’t wait to go back to this historic little street and hit up a few more of the shops that were closed.  First on my list will be the shoe boutique called Something About Shoes.  I saw a great pair of Kenneth Cole boots in the window and a few bags inside that I’m pretty sure I can find room for in my closet ;)

Here’s a little more info about the history of the area, for those of you who enjoy learning more about the community: http://www.city.langley.bc.ca/History.shtml
