Photographers Jillian Kirby and Shannon Stevenson of Lucy Lime Studios are using their enthusiasm and talent for child and family photography to give back to families in the Fraser Valley with the launch of their charitable project, Lucy|Life.
Lucy|Life invites members of the community to nominate young families from the Fraser Valley who are in the unfortunate circumstance of losing a parent, child, or sibling. Each year, Jillian and Shannon will select six families nominated to Lucy|Life and donate their services to provide a full photography session, a 16 x 20 print and all the full resolution images on cd.
The inspiration behind Lucy|Life comes from both Jillian and Shannon’s passion for photography and their love of capturing special moments, creating memories and telling stories through the camera lens. Even more poignant is the significance of Lucy|Life for Shannon, who lost her father unexpectedly when she was just five years old.
“I have only one picture of our entire family together before my father passed away”, says Shannon. “There is nothing more valuable to me than the images I have of my dad; I’ve cherished them since I was a little girl. Experiencing the loss of a parent so early in life, and now being a mom myself, I want to help other families to capture these moments to last a lifetime.”
Lucy|Life photo sessions will be tailored to meet the unique needs of the nominated families. “We appreciate this is a challenging time for our young families and our goal is to make the shoot as fun and comfortable as possible”, says Jillian. “We just want to hang out and capture the families doing whatever comes naturally to them!”

Nomination criteria for Lucy|Life:
- Lucy Life family must be nominated by a family member or close friend by e-mail to Lucy Lime: info@lucylimestudios.com.
- Nominated family must live in the Fraser Valley (i.e. Surrey, White Rock, Langley, Aldergrove, Cloverdale, Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Mission.)
*Families currently living – or who have a child living – in a care facility or hospice outside of the Valley, in Metro Vancouver, are welcome. - Nominated families must be facing the loss of an immediate family member
(mom, dad, sister or brother.) - Family should be young, with small children (as we are child photographers, we would like to ensure we’re able to keep the focus on the children.)
