Last weekend, Bub and I checked out a hidden gem of a restaurant in Langley, called The Seasonal Experience, a tiny restaurant (seats approx. 24) in Langley City’s Sundel Square, where one would never expect to find a fine dining restaurant.  It was fabulous!

Featuring a menu of local, fresh product (much of it organic), they regularly feature as many local farms as possible.  We started our meal with an appie of Hand Rolled Ricotta Gnocchi and Duck Choriza Sausage, which was rich, warm and perfect for sharing.  I then moved on to the Pan Seared Beef Tenderloin and Bub enjoyed the Chicken (apologies for the lack of details…I forgot my pen and paper to write everything down and their menu changes all the time, so I don’t see our exact meals on their current menu.)  Regardless, they were delicious and LOVE that they switch up their menu regularly.  Means you’re always in for something new, and best of all, fresh

Our server was fabulous and knew her products well (bonus points from me for that, cause there’s nothing more annoying than a server who doesn’t know what she/he is serving!)  She even brought out a tray of fresh growing fava beans they’d used in the chicken dish for us to try.  I also overheard her helping out the table beside us, who couldn’t find a vegetarian dish on the menu that evening.  No problem though!  The Chef whipped up something with the fresh ingredients he had on hand.

The wine list isn’t huge, but they have a decent selection, including my favourite Black Sage from Sumac Ridge, so I was a happy girl!

The décor could use a little work.  Considering they’re a fine dining restaurant, you do go in expecting a slightly more upscale environment.  However, for us, décor comes after food preparation and quality and I’d much rather eat this fabulous meal in its casual environment, than an average meal in a place where they’re more invested in their fancy bathrooms than they are in the food I’m paying for.  So, clearly the ambience was not an issue for us!  We loved our dinner, had a great evening and look forward to being back again.

Check out their website for more information.  They also do cateringcooking classes and feature a Seasonal To Go Menu!

  1. I attended a wedding catered by The Seasonal Experience. It was fabulous food!!

  2. We have had the pleasure of hiring them to cook two intimate dinners for us and 8 friends, as well as cater a christmas party and I can not say enough about their fabulous food and impeccable service (they even cleaned up)!

  3. I definitely recommend the Chef’s Take It or Leave It. Dare to try something different, and be pleasantly surprised by the variety of dishes made from local seasonal fresh ingredients that arrive at your table!

If you go in a group of 4, each person will receive a different item at each course. Even more fun is to share, as you end up getting to try 4x as many dishes in one night! :)

  4. My fiance & I discovered The Seasonal Experience about a year ago and have been addicted ever since. Yes, the location is small but the food is absolutley to die for! The best fine locally produced organic food anywhere! The best part is they are opening a brand new, much larger location at the beginning of June called “Seasonal 56″ . It will be on 56th ave in the Gloucester business park in east Langley.
