I can’t believe I’m posting about the August long-weekend right now. Where did July go????…
The weather is meant to be crazy hot (a heat-wave is expected) and there are lots of FV events happening to get you out of the house and into the sunshine (just remember your hats and SPF people.) We’ll be off camping again, this time a little further North, beyond Pemberton. Hopefully the fish will be biting, but the mosquitoes won’t be.

Fort Langley Brigade Days
Saturday, August 1st – Monday, August 3rd, 2009
9:00 am – 8:00 pm
Celebrate BC Day where it all began! Meet dozens of fur trade period re-enactors as you explore the Fort. Watch black powder demonstrations, and participate in activities and programs. Canoe brigade arrival at the waterfront on Sunday, August 2nd at 1:00 pm.
World Police and Fire Games
Emergency responders from around the world are coming to Fort Langley to participate in the 2009 World Police and Fire Games. The games take place July 31 to Aug. 9. Participants will be in Fort Langley to take part in the freshwater angling competition on Aug. 5 and 6. Get all the info here: www.2009wpfg.ca

60th Annual Spirit of the Sea Festival (White Rock)
July 31 – August 2nd
A weekend full of free fun for the whole family, including a children’s carnival and parade, beach games and races, fireworks and continuous live entertainment. 100,000 spectators and participants are expected to visit the 60th annual summer festival on in the beach in White Rock.

Ridge Meadows Heritage Day (Maple Ridge)
August 1
The Ridge Meadows Seniors Society, the Maple Ridge Historical Society and the Mayors’ Heritage Day Society invite you to join them in Memorial Peace Park to celebrate our local history. There will be a Pioneer Parade, a Farmer’s Market, great food, and traditional midway games for the young and young at heart. Experience heritage games and activities, and learn more about our community’s roots. The day will wrap up with fireworks!
