Between wine tours and floating down the canal in Penticton, ‘N’ and I also checked out the Penticton Farmers Market. Held every Saturday morning down Main street in Penticton, this market was bustling with people, kids, dogs and vendors! Everything from artisans, to baked goods, vegetables, music, pastries and anything in between can be found here. I even ran into an old friend from University!

Open every Saturday from May – October, 8:30 – noon, the Penticton Farmers’ Market is a non-profit society whose purpose is to conduct “a market in the City of Penticton at which small scale agricultural producers and craftspeople may offer their wares directly to the public.”

‘N’ and I loved it, we picked up fresh greens and other local veggies and enjoyed a fabulous salad for dinner, paired with an outstanding Chardonnay from Silk Scarf Wineryin Summerland. I make special mention of this wine because I am NOT a Chardonnay fan. Never. Ever. But I was convinced to try it at Silk Scarf and WOW…I mean, wow. Not your typical Chard. Chardonnay always reminds me of the bad dry wine my mom used to drink at pizza parlor’s when I was growing up. THIS was NOT THAT Chardonnay.

Remember we have awesome Farmer’s Markets in the Valley too! Langley, Surrey, Abbotsford, White Rock and Chilliwack all have ‘em. We have some outstanding wineries out here in the Fraer Valleytoo, so we can enjoy meals like the one I had in Penticton any time we want.
