Langley International Festival – Iron Chef Competition

Was invited to be a guest judge for Langley’s 1st Annual Iron Chef Competition, last Saturday at the Langley International Festival. Sponsored by Langley’s Well Seasoned – A Gourmet Food Store, I was joined by fellow judges Art Factora, Jerry Doucette and Roberto Farina (President of Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce.)

My lovely co-judges

Was so much fun! Our Chefs for the day, Chef Brian Misko of the House of Q and Chef Robert Wentz from the Sonoma Grill were each presented with a Black Box, filled with mystery ingredients. They were tasked with creating three dishes for us, each of which had to include at least one of the mystery ingredients: chocolate, pizza dough, bacon and figs! We were all extremely impressed with what they came up with:

If you’re curious, yes, I ate everything they put in front me me. It was all so good! I especially loved the Bacon Explosion, presented to us by Chef Brian. It’s basically, bacon, wrapped around more meat, then grilled. I don’t want to know how many calories were in it. It was just delicious.

And dessert wasn’t bad either!

In the end, it was Chef Brian who took home the crown as Iron Chef Langley, but it was a close call! Both Chefs prepared mouth-watering dishes and we all enjoyed every bite.

  1. Thanks Erin! I think there were only 12 calories in the Bacon Explosion… yeah, that’s it. No more. Hee hee.

    Glad you enjoyed.
