A Manitoba-born country bumpkin, turned Westcoast city-girl, I now have the best of both worlds, living in BC’s beautiful Fraser Valley.
I started My Urban Suburban in August 2008 after moving to “the Valley” with my boyfriend Kyle (referred to on the site as “Bub”…purely because it embarrasses him and I think it’s funny.)
Our chosen town was Langley, but the transition from city to suburbs was tough for me, given my love for the beauty and lifestyle of downtown Vancouver. Was I actully turning in my bus pass to become a card carrying member of the bridge and tunnel crowd?!
Following a complete identity crisis, I realized I’d been a little too quick to judge my new hometown. Much to 
my surprise, it turned out the Valley was bursting with culture, fabulous shops, fashionable clothes, restaurants with mouth-watering food, award-winning wine and outstanding community events. Everything I had grown accustomed to in the city…and maybe a little more!
This fusion of urban amenities set against the stunning suburban-valley backdrop was the inspiration for My Urban Suburban. Here you’ll find a modern and fresh twist on life in the Fraser Valley. Featuring informative, refreshing and fun posts about local businesses, entrepreneurs, community events and everything in between, My Urban Suburban is dedicated to discovering the fun, fresh, fabulous Fraser Valley + beyond
…Even you city-folk might find a few gems that would make a day trip out to the Valley worth your while!

Two of my wonderful friends, Jillian Kirby and Shannon Stevenson, who together make up the talented duo of LucyLime Studios, are the gals behind the cameras for much of the photography you see featured on My Urban Suburban. When they heard I was starting up this blog, they immediately offered their services, and I couldn’t be more grateful. From my personal headshots, to the beautiful images you see in the Gallery, these are the lovely ladies who get all the credit!
While LucyLime focuses solely on newborn, child and family photography, I am incredibly grateful to Jill and Shannon for stepping away from their everyday work to help me out by contributing not just their exceptional talent, but their time, to help make My Urban Suburban a little prettier for all of you to enjoy.
